Sex Ed is Important to All Your Relationships, Not Just Sexual Ones

Posted by Javay da BAE. on

Most people tend to think that sex education is only important for physical and romantic relationships, but sex education teaches you about things that impact your friendships, relationships with family members, your relationship with yourself, how to navigate professional relationships and everything in between. Sex education helps us to grow and understand ourselves and others emotionally, physically, mentally, and sometimes even spiritually.

Sex education should be prioritized as much as your prioritize brushing your teeth every morning. Proper sex education can explain how to set and keep boundaries in all types of relationships, sex education can give you the tools and confidence to have tough conversations, sex education can help build your confidence inside and outside of the bedroom, sex education can help you understand and manage your emotions, sex education teaches you about power dynamics and how to move through them.

Sex education is so much more than just “use a condom, masturbate, and get STI tested.” Sex education is a vital part of our human experiences. It is also a cornerstone of social justice and as we start 2021 I think that social justice is still as important as ever.
